The rest of the screenplay is written to showcase struggle and portray unification etc etc but then doesn't seem to come through. The movie's tagline was great betrayal but these so called betrayals are either expected or come all of a sudden that it hinders the screenplay rather than bolster it in the form of Twists. I think directors should hang the boots when it comes to Epic Sagas It shouldn't be the case that everybody wants to jump in on the Bahubali Bandwagon. coz it is clear that 1. The Bandwagon is full 2. They end up as miserable BO failures (Saaho, Sye raa and now Panipat) Gowarikar may have been the first person to champion this genre of larger than life stories be it with Lagaan or Jodha Akbar but he seems to have slightly lost touch with it as other directors like Rajamouli or Bhansali have pushed all the envelopes possible already! More on Acting now. Sanjay Dutt performs his role in a flippant manner (seems like he did this one solely for money) Arjun tries hard to match up to his Broooo (a.k.a. Ranveer Singh) but his earnest / sincere acting falls flat - again like I said previously cannot explain why! According to me Kriti Sanon definitely scores she plays her character with poise and restraint and she gets to act quite a bit and showcase her skills... There are other characters but they are all completely forgettable. I mean at some point I started putting these characters in three buckets. 1. Siding the hero 2. Siding the Villian 3. Not participating in the war... All in all it is a watchable fare but the audience can't help themselves from comparing one epic saga film to another. Bollywood has a tendency to always follow the bandwagon effect there was a trend where everybody wanted to recreate their own version of Romeo Juliet (Issaq, Ishaqzaade, Ram Leela etc.) And now there is a trend of larger than life films. not necessarily war films but just grand in terms of budget (adding Clunky Kalank also to this list) I would rather watch a small budget movie such as a Uri or a meaty emotional film such as Gully Boy that is a better bet than just upping the game in terms of VFX.

I love this song. After, I saw the teaser for Panipat I knew I HAD to see this movie! From then on I avoided all other previews, reviews, etc. as not to influence my expectations of the movie. I then went into the theater on opening night with no knowledge of the plot. only that it had something to do with Maratha and Abdali! Ignorance is bliss! I was absolutely blown away. I generally don't watch war films. but I found the battle scenes were so well done and breathe taking.

Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.

Welcome back Kangana, we missed you. Panga essentially is a story about regaining confidence in one’s self. It goes beyond just skill, for that the person sitting next to you, wreaking havoc on the keyboard right now, also has. We are in fact surrounded by skilful people, who are where they are because they deserve it. And so do we. It is that confidence that is most fragile, it is that confidence that suffers the biggest hits. Jaya (Kangana) is 32, married, and mother of a seven-year-old. Prashant (Jassie Gill), her husband, loves her, respects her and more importantly, understands what she gave up to choose this life. So, what did she give up? Not just kabaddi and a spot in the national team right before the Asia Cup; she gave up her dream. Playing for the Railway Kabaddi Team has landed her a job, where there’s no respect or recognition, but there is stability. Jaya today specialises in aaloo ke parathe, but her eyes gleam when she bites into that occasional slice of pizza she is sharing with her family in front of the television set. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Meenu (Richa Chadha), same age as Jaya, unmarried, no kids, and currently coaching aspiring young girls in kabaddi. "Jab ladka tumhe dabochne ki koshish kare, pao se pakde, toh edi ko aise twist karo, aur patli gali se line ke uss par chale jaao, " she paints a more realistic picture so a girl in a small city like Bhopal can relate to while she charts her gaming strategy on the mat. The railway quarter with a loft in the kitchen where a room heater and a sandwich maker plays peek-a-boo, neatly packed in the boxes they came in, is so middle-class that it feels like home. But her setting is not a character in the story - it’s just there inconspicuously, furthering a Jaya and a Prashant’s story. They are ordinary people, middle-class, with middle-class dreams and limits, stemming from a middle-class conditioning. One such conditioning comes in the way of a bubbling desire in Jaya to make a comeback into the kabaddi team at 32. Motherhood. Even as Adi (Yagya Bhasin), her son, hands her a glass of milk because she needs physical strength to get back into the game, Jaya is torn. "Main chali jaungi toh ghar kaun samhalega, Adi ko dawai kaun dega, khana kaun banayega? " she asks and quickly adds, "Main apni hadd dekhna chahti thi. Isse aage jaungi toh cruel mother kehlaungi. " Caught between 'log kya kahenge' and her own reluctance to let go of the only thing that adds value to her existence now - her family - Jaya is almost losing her breath inches away from the line. One final push, maybe? And Ashwiny lends that push. A bit of willing suspension of disbelief, a lot of that feel-good factor that comes from watching an underdog win, Panga delivers the highs wonderfully. You walk out of the theatre feeling satiated, happy, not because of the extra butter on the popcorn. A still from Panga. That, again, is a double-edged sword. Because the audience already loves a good underdog story, shall we keep sticking to it? Panga in that sense plays to the gallery. Jaya trains and she trains hard, but the ease at which she overcomes her drawbacks, overpowers younger, fitter girls on the mat, is a stretch. Let's not forget she was out-of-practice for a good seven years. And while Serena Williams (an example used in the film) is a mother of one, winning Grand Slams after Grand Slams (she's at 23 wins right now), she never took a seven-year-long break. READ STREET DANCER 3D REVIEW HERE: As much as we'd like to believe that Jaya's win is possible, we cannot discount the fact that kabaddi is a difficult, all-body sport. And it is not sexist to admit that motherhood changes that. Panga lost a few points there. Kangana is good. Jassie emotes less and stares more, with an occasional nose-clenching grin that is both annoying and endearing. Neena Gupta has little to do in the film, very little. We are officially disappointed. Richa’s Meenu starts off a tad bit lacklustre compared to Kangana’s Jaya, and she has that complacency about her performance that we spotted in Inside Edge Season 2 too, but second-half Richa is just awesomesauce - we’re using this word for it just made it to Oxford Dictionary, and at the right time. Yagya Bhasin as seven-year-old Adi is a bomb. He does naughty, throws tantrums and sometimes spouts the most horrible things when he isn’t getting his way, just as kids do, but he also makes you fall in love with him. Panga is a good reminder that we all matter, individually, in our own way, in our own stories. It's a reminder to hold on to that little ball of confidence in you. And it's a reminder that Kangana doesn’t need to actually take panga, she can simply make one. We’re going with 3. 5 stars out of 5. ( The sport, born in India and popular across Asia, is easy enough for the uninitiated to follow onscreen. ) But she quit playing when her husband’s job moved the family to Bhopal from Delhi. Can she make a comeback? That’s the question in this lightly feminist film, which shifts from being a domestic dramedy to an underdog sports tale, a favorite genre of Indian movies. As expected, the movie ends with a big tournament, an all-Asia competition, and a climactic match: India versus Iran. But Tiwari is better at probing the emotions under the drama than building a nail-biting, rah-rah finish, though she tries. Throughout, Tiwari doesn’t get enough help from her script — she wrote it with Nikhil Mehrotra — which knows the beats to hit but not always how to hit them. The film is fuzzy when you want it to be sharp, its characters too generic to register, particularly Gill’s one-note Prashant. Not so Ranaut’s Jaya, who elevates the movie, putting the story across better than the script can. Ranaut makes Jaya credible and specific; she’s not an every woman or every mom or every athlete. Every time this movie is on TV some kind of almost Star Wars like force grabs my eyes and I'm forced to finish the movie. The battle scenes,the story,the acting,there all awesome. I was 15 when I saw this in the movie theater, And it was something I've never seen before. Mel Gibson should have easily won best acting for his masterpiece.
"In order to converse with an equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God" that line is very true. Despite all the bad commits lately this movie will always be on my top 10 greatest movie list. If Roy Orbison's voice was a movie it would obviously be this one. Except for The Passion of The Christ this is Mel Gibson at his best. Truly one for the ages.

I feel differently. On Mondays I tend to recommend stuff to stream, and today I'm suggesting you get down with the sickness by streaming these 10 movies about deadly viruses. Go ahead and scare that cold away! Night Of The Living Dead If you feel like the living dead, you should join your people by streaming this 1968 George A. Romero classic. Victor Halperin's 1932 movie White Zombie is widely considered the first zombie film, but Night of the Living Dead is the granddaddy of modern zombie movies, whether the walking dead are calling zombies or not. Modern films tend to go for a faster zombie approach -- everyone is in such a rush to die these days! -- but it's worth slowing down to appreciate the leisurely pace of past attacks. Night of the Living Dead can be streamed right now on Tubi, Shudder, Sling TV, and Starz. Contagion Director Steven Soderbergh's star-studded 2011 virus movie is currently enjoying a huge streaming boost "thanks" to the coronavirus. Contagion 's virus also spread from China, and even though there are major differences (and the movie is fiction) the movie is pretty helpful with its general reminder to stop touching your damn face every few seconds. (That reminder was for me. I do that all the time, and every time I do it I can hear Kate Winslet's character shaming me. I'm sorry, Dr. Mears! ) I love everything about this movie from the soundtrack to the heartbreaking story -- to shaking my head at Jude Law's smarmy blogger to loving Matt Damon's #1 dad. It shouldn't take a virus for anyone to appreciate this movie. And that ending prom dance! I tear up every time. Stream Contagion with a Hulu subscription or pay to rent/buy it at Amazon, FandangoNOW, Vudu, YouTube, iTunes, Google Play, or wherever you pay for such things. Outbreak Before Contagion came along to scare us into not touching anything, there was Outbreak to scare us into not wanting to breathe. The 1995 virus outbreak film stars Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey (back when we all loved him), Cuba Gooding J., Morgan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, Rene Russo, and -- somehow I forgot this -- Patrick Dempsey. It's another heartbreaker of a movie with a plot just realistic enough to get you scared it could happen in real life. Netflix does not have this movie as of February 2020 -- or most of the others I put on here, to be honest -- but you can pay a couple of bucks to stream Outbreak on Amazon, iTunes, etc. 28 Days Later Danny Boyle made one of the all-time great virus movies and it works so well because it's low-budget and low-tech. It's not splashy or filled with major stars. The realism just adds to the dread and heartbreak. This was Cillian Murphy's breakout role, but it also put Bond star Naomie Harris on the map. And don't forget Brendan Gleeson as another standout dad or Christopher Eccleston in his chilling military role. (The military often ends up on the wrong side of history in these movies. ) The cast is relatively small, since it's the end of the world, and we come to care about all of them. I didn't love the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, but you can watch that too if you like. I won't drop blood in your eye or anything. Stream 28 Days Later on Hulu, or pay to rent/buy at the usual spots. World War Z I remember all the behind-the-scenes issues with Brad Pitt's movie, which was based very loosely on the Max Brooks novel. So when it finally arrived in theaters in 2013 I was prepared for it to be a hot mess. Instead, I thought it was pretty fantastic, and I'm still waiting for more. I love every virus outbreak but there's a special place in my heart for the ones that show the effect around the world -- a globe-trotting film like Contagion or World War Z as opposed to focusing on one location like the raw realism of 28 Days Later. In this case, it allows for harrowing scenes like that one in Jerusalem as the zombies scale the walls. [shivers] Stream World War Z on Hulu with a subscription or pay a few bucks at the usual digital spots. 12 Monkeys Brad Pitt again! The man does love to go viral. Brad Pitt recently talked about hating his performance in the second half of this movie. The Academy didn't agree, giving him an Oscar nomination as Jeffrey Goines. Bruce Willis is the main star, though, as prisoner James Cole in 2035, sent back in time to try to help stop the virus that will eventually spread and kill off most of humanity. Madeleine Stowe plays his 1990 psychiatrist Dr. Kathryn Railly in a movie that manages to balance time travel, a virus outbreak, and the usual surreal images and off-kilter humor you can expect from a Terry Gilliam film. 12 Monkeys was inspired by Chris Marker's La Jetée, and so was the 12 Monkeys TV series that aired on Syfy. Stream 12 Monkeys on Hulu or for just a couple of bucks to rent at Amazon, etc. The Omega Man Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend gave us three great virus movies: Vincent Price's The Last Man on Earth in 1964, Charlton Heston's The Omega Man in 1971, and Will Smith's I Am Legend, noted below. Each movie adapted the story a little bit differently for its own time. In The Omega Man, biological warfare is to blame for the plague that wipes out most of humanity. Heston's Neville gives himself an experimental vaccine to survive and battles a cult of plague victims called The Family. Neville thinks he's the only man alive until he meets other survivors, including Lisa, played by the great Rosalind Cash. The movie is a cult classic today and you can stream it to rent/buy at YouTube and the usual places. I Am Legend Will Smith's 2007 post-apocalyptic movie is also based on Richard Matheson's novel, like The Omega Man. It also makes its own changes, including seeing the virus' origin as a cure for cancer gone wrong. (This is your fault, Emma Thompson! ) This movie scared me more than most. Sometimes I think of it when night is about to fall and I think I'd better get indoors and in the bathtub and keep SILENT or the Darkseekers will get me. I also can't look at photos like the one shown above without melting a little bit and getting close to tears. Oh, sweet Sam. All in all, this is one of Will Smith's best action movies. It's a one man (and one dog) showcase and he carries it easily. I'm mad that Netflix doesn't currently carry I Am Legend, but it might by the time you see this. For now, you'll have to pay a few bucks to rent or buy at Amazon and company. Dawn Of The Dead Remakes get a bad name, but there's no disloyalty in pointing out when a movie does a damn good job of reimagining a classic. Zack Snyder's 2004 movie does that damn good job. It carries the same title as George A. Romero's 1978 movie and has some similarities -- including a shopping mall sanctuary and apocalypse pregnancy -- but Snyder's film definitely has its own take. The cast is A+, led by the amazing Sarah Polley, who won me over in The Sweet Hereafter and now directs and produces her own films. Still, I'd love to see her back in a kickass role like nurse Ana. Humor, heart, an awesome soundtrack, this movie has it all. It's not on Netflix as of February 2020, but you can rent/buy at Amazon and the usual spots. Pontypool I'm going a little more obscure for this last one. There are plenty of other outbreak movies to watch, but to be honest you've probably seen most of them already. I love re-watching movies I love, but maybe you haven't seen Pontypool yet? It's a 2008 horror film out of Canada set in the titular town in Ontario. Stephen McHattie's character Grant Mazzy is a shock jock radio announcer in a station that tries to navigate through a very creative virus attack that spreads through language. The movie is based on Tony Burgess' novel Pontypool Changes Everything and he adapted his own work for the screenplay. Pontypool isn't available everywhere, but it looks like you can stream it through Shudder or for a few bucks at iTunes. BONUS: Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak This is a TV series, not a movie, but it's perfectly timed for the coronavirus. Plus, it's on Netflix! Yes, Netflix actually has something. This six-episode series is called Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak and it follows the vaccine debate and doctors around the world trying to treat and cure viruses. It's fascinating and scary and a bit maddening, but definitely worth watching. Stream Pandemic here on Netflix. More options: There are so many zombie or other virus films and TV shows you can stream. Obviously Shaun of the Dead is a delight and a great mix of humor and horror. I almost added that one but went for Pontypool instead, so go ahead and BITE ME if you don't like my choice. You can also watch Zombieland or maybe stream the first few seasons of The Walking Dead and stop right when they get to Alexandria so you're spared the slow and painful decline. Netflix also has the new vampire outbreak show V Wars starring Ian Somerhalder. And Netflix also has a TV series following an outbreak in Atlanta called Containment. It was the band’s largest concert to date as frontman Michael Hutchence would inform the crowd on stage, a moment captured by director David Mallet during the group’s first live concert film Live Baby Live. The concert was filmed 28 years ago on sixteen 35 mm cameras. A helicopter provided sweeping aerial shots of the band on stage amidst the iconic Wembley throng. The newly restored film will be presented in cinematic widescreen, featuring sound remastered in Dolby Atmos by Giles Martin and Sam Okell at Abbey Road studios, when it hits theaters for one night only courtesy of CinEvents / Eagle Rock Films / Fathom Events on December 9. While the 1991 show, part of the group’s massive world tour in support of its seventh studio album X, stood as their biggest headlining performance, it wasn’t the first time INXS performed at Wembley. Five years prior, almost to the day, the group did two shows at Wembley Stadium on July 11 and 12, 1986 as the opening act for Queen during the “Magic” tour (the group’s final full tour with singer Freddie Mercury). Remarkably, the pair of 1986 shows fell exactly one year after Queen’s triumphant Wembley performance at Live Aid and loomed large for INXS five years later as they recorded their own headlining performance at the stadium. “It wasn’t an entirely easy concert for us to do, the two nights, ” said INXS guitarist Tim Farriss of the opening slot. “After the first night, I was standing where Brian May would stand and the hardcore Queen fans are right down in the very front throwing loaves of bread at us. And we still got a great reaction and it felt like a great gig but it was like, ‘Well, I’ve never had anything thrown at me before…’” the guitarist joked. “When we got to do it ourselves, it was like, ‘There won’t be any bread tonight! ’” LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - JUNE 24: Tim Farriss and Michael Hutchence of INXS perform on stage on the... (Photo by Pete Still/Redferns) Redferns In 1989, the Rolling Stones launched their enormous “Steel Wheels” world tour, creating an arms race in terms of concert production that still hasn’t stopped. But Live Baby Live is a stripped down affair in comparison that thrives thanks to a great band firing on all cylinders, the incomparable presence of one of rock’s all time great frontmen and a Wembley crowd characteristically teetering on the brink of being out of control. “We’d played Wembley Stadium before with Queen and they’re amazing. But that had to be a typical English rock extravaganza, which happens really at every stadium show you see. But we didn’t go for images of ourselves or balloons or grand pianos, backing vocalists, dancers or anything like that. It’s just the six of us, ” Farriss explained. “And Michael hardly even says anything! I just sat there going, ‘Wow! I can’t believe we did that. And I can’t believe the audience loved it that much. ’ I mean, the music does sound great but it seems to be this cycle going between the audience and the band. ” Free of the trappings that denote most large concerts today, Live Baby Live puts the focus squarely on singer Michael Hutchence and the music of INXS. X followed up the worldwide breakout success of the Kick album in 1987 and the Wembley recording features a band reaching its commercial peak. The newly restored edition of the London concert, which was released digitally and on CD/vinyl earlier this month and hits theaters in December, features for the first time the group’s playing that night of the X deep cut “Lately, ” a performance previously thought lost. The group’s stature by that point allowed them to take some chances creatively on stage. “The thing about it was the band was so relaxed. We went out there and jammed to start the show. And [INXS drummer] Jonny [Farriss] running out by himself first without any of the rest of us, that wasn’t planned. So we all sort of came out and started jamming before he pulls the band in on the first chords and away we go. That’s what you do at a club, not a stadium show! ” said the guitarist. “And [‘Guns in the Sky’] wasn’t even a hit, ” recalled Farriss of the group’s opening cut that night. “Sure, it was a well-known song off the Kick album but, normally, in a stadium show, you might think about opening with a hit. But we just changed the set up a bit and had fun with it. Just seeing the audience really helped the band feel like, ‘This is gonna be fun…’” The fun the band appears to be having on stage during the Wembley concert is contagious. And director David Mallet managed to capture a warm exchange between Farriss and Hutchence for posterity. It happened during a particularly incisive rendition of “What You Need. ” Drummer Jon Farriss sets forth a funky beat as the band slows things down for a moment, stretching out to jam. Hutchence shimmies left, wrapping his right arm around his guitarist, and the two have an inaudible exchange during the embrace. Shortly thereafter, Hutchence, laughing, goads the guitarist to, “play the f—-ing riff, Timmy. ” Farriss, also laughing, responds in kind with a searing take on the song’s hook - and a measured word for Hutchence - pulling the band from the jam and back into the performance. “Well, it was kind of an inside joke. Because I came up to him and said, ‘Mike, this is the biggest f—-ing pub we’ve ever played. ’ And he turns around and says it to the audience, ” said Farriss. “So I said to him, ‘Why didn’t you tell them I said that? ’ So we were having a bit of a friendly gibe at each other during the night to egg each other on. It was a very, very warm moment between us, I have to admit. It was great. Michael and I did 95% of all of the interviews so we had a certain in joke between us, yes. He was the rare frontman equally as adept at reaching fans in the front row as he was those at the back of the massive Wembley gathering or on screen in a theater. And he shines during Live Baby Live. “Well, you know, it’s a funny thing. I’ve heard people say that Michael could’ve fronted any band. And it’s like, ‘Well, I suppose… But he didn’t, ’” said Farriss of the late INXS frontman. “And the thing is that when he started singing with us, he really wasn’t the singer. He’d never really sung. He was a schoolkid. He’d messed around with poetry a little bit, ” he continued. “We all sort of grew up together. We were family. And we were all so different. And Michael evolved with us. And he saw his role as the frontman and he started to take that on from way early on. And he got better and better and better at it. And it was a wonderful thing to watch that flower open. ” Director Richard Lowenstein takes a deeper dive into Hutchence’s world in the new documentary Mystify: Michael Hutchence, a film which hits theaters for one night on January 7, 2020. “It’s interesting that Richard Lowenstein’s film Mystify came out about a really similar time to the Live Baby Live film. And that was kind of a coincidence - but a nicely timed coincidence, ” said Farriss. “Because, on the one hand, you see that that film is all about Michael - it’s really not to do with us - but then if you entail it with the live Wembley show, they go well together in a way. ” With rumors of a Broadway musical in the works, Mystify and Live Baby Live go a long way toward helping to secure the legacy of both Hutchence and INXS twenty-two years after the singer’s untimely passing. It’s a role Tim Farriss in particular has embraced. As Live Baby Live lands in theaters on December 9, Farriss has only one hope. “So I went to the cinema by myself and watched it. Which is kind of weird. Because there were so many people in the audience of the film I was watching and it was only me watching it [in the theater]. But I still clapped, ” joked the guitarist of his private screening. “I was actually blown away to be honest. It was a surreal experience. I’d seen it on television. But this was completely different, sitting in the cinema like you’re at a concert. I felt like I was watching our concert properly, like I was in the audience. I had never seen us like that. So it was wonderful. It just brought back so many memories of the night, ” Farriss said. “I’d love to be in a cinema incognito. In fact, when it comes out, I’m probably going to do that. And watch it and see what it’s like with other people watching it. Because I’m dying to see their reactions, you know? Six years to the day after Live Aid, London’s famous Wembley Stadium played host to a second concert would go down in history. On 13 July 1991, Aussie superstars INXS delivered the show of their lives at Wembley, with their career-defining gig captured in all its widescreen glory by a spin-off concert film and live album – both of which were titled Live Baby Live. At Wembley, INXS surfed the crest of an almighty wave that first started to swell when they released their breakthrough album, Kick, in 1987, and continued to build with 1990’s X: another highly polished pop album that yielded multi-platinum sales and thrust the band into rock’s premier league. Listen to Live Baby Live: Wembley Stadium on Apple Music  and Spotify. “The whole band was on fire that night” INXS’ Wembley Stadium date was just one of many stops on their high-profile Summer XS tour of 1991 and – as the original 11 November 1991 edition of Live Baby Live proved – they were on ferocious form. That first edition’s 16 tracks were culled from shows in cities ranging from Sydney to Dublin and Rio De Janeiro, and they demonstrated there were few bands on the planet capable of touching INXS at that particular moment in time. The Antipodean stars were on a roll when they arrived in Europe in the summer of 1991. They’d completed the tour’s successful “homecoming” leg in Australia during April and May, after which their Summer XS itinerary found them headlining European festival shows from 28 June through to 16 July. To a man, the band agreed the high point of the jaunt was the 13 July show at Wembley Stadium. “A night to remember for all time” “The whole band was on fire that night”, bassist Garry Gary Beers recalled in 2019. “Michael was so good, he sang his heart out and gave every person in the crowd a night to remember for all time. He truly had that amazing ability to make the biggest shows as intimate as the pubs we grew up in musically. ” INXS needed to be on top of their game that night, not least because they were topping a bill of real pedigree. Their headlining slot was preceded by sets from fast-rising indie-dance outfit Jesus Jones, Irish favourites The Hothouse Flowers, San Franciscan rockers Jellyfish, widely-acclaimed British soul-rock outfit Roachford and iconic Blondie star Deborah Harry. However, as director David Mallet’s recently-restored Live Baby Live  film and its newly-released, 21-track audio counterpart so vividly reveal, INXS were never going to falter. Michael Hutchence and company may have stepped out in front of an awe-inspiring 74, 000 people, but as soon as drummer Jon Farriss hammered out the machine-like rhythm of ‘Guns In The Sky’ and his colleagues locked in behind him, they never once looked back. “One of the biggest global sensations at the height of their powers” The night’s setlist drew heavily on both Kick and X, with vast swathes of the crowd moving as one to ‘New Sensation’ and hollering back the chorus of the sinewy, blues-based ‘Mystify’. Kicking off six consecutive tracks from X, a tense, measured performance of ‘The Stairs’ ramped up the tension, then gave way to the swaggering, wah-wah-driven ‘Know The Difference’, before a soaring ‘Disappear’ provoked an enormous roar from the crowd. Shrewdly, INXS kept a battery of hits in reserve for the home stretch, which included celebratory versions of ‘Bitter Tears’, ‘Suicide Blonde’ and the biggest, phattest version of their breakthrough hit, ‘What You Need’. The latter song culminated in a lengthy call-and-response workout between Hutchence and the crowd; for all his poise and consummate cool, the much-missed frontman was visibly moved by the love his band received that night. “F__ing hell, it looks like all England’s out there! ” he said, his voice cracking with emotion as ‘Suicide Blonde’ wound down. If that wasn’t enough, encores including ‘Need You Tonight’, a heartstring-tugging ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ and a seven-minute ‘Devil Inside’ almost brought the venue’s famous Twin Towers down. By the time the Aussie legends finally relinquished the stage, no one present would have quibbled with executive music producer Giles Martin’s assertion that they’d just witnessed “one of the biggest global sensations at the height of their powers”. Yet the band also felt that Live Baby Live documented them scaling a once-in-lifetime peak: “We were just six blokes from Australia that treated Wembley Stadium like just another pub gig, ” Tim Farriss said in 2019. “We went in with a PA and a few lights and played our asses off.
